A mechanistic model of a PWR-based nuclear power plant in response to external hazard-induced station blackout accidents

Natural hazard-induced nuclear accidents, such as the Fukushima Daiichi Accident that occurred in Japan 2011, have significantly increased reactor safety studies understanding power plant (NPP) responses to external hazard events earthquakes and floods. hazards could cause loss of offsite plants, potentially leading a Station Blackout (SBO) accident contributes overall risk accidents. Despite fact extensive research has been conducted on station blackout for plant, further these is needed, particularly context dynamic nature flooding. This paper estimates progression generic pressurized water (PWR) response flooding events. The original RELAP5-3D model Westinghouse four-loop design was adopted modified simulate flood-induced accident, including short-term long-term scenarios.
